“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.” - Elle Woods, Legally Blonde

I know you didn’t ask, but let’s pretend you did. Why should I work out? Aside from cold hard science, Elle Woods will always have one of the best answers of all time.

Many of life’s greatest joys involve eating and moving, but a significant portion of today’s fitness industry perpetuates an unhealthy, guilt-ridden paradigm that thrives on sabotaging the pure enjoyment of these activities. Please join me in challenging your body and brain, along with the litany of messages painting fitness and diet as a form of punishment, from the inside-out.

lift something heavy

I specialize in practicing and teaching sustainable methods of strength and conditioning. My goal is to help others develop a solid foundation of quality movement. My hope is to witness the ensuing confidence from physical and mental accomplishment bleed into every other area of people’s lives - which, I am happy to attest, is often inevitable.

stay a while

Last year, I moved from Albany, NY to Baltimore, MD. Prior to heading south, my favorite pleasant weather activity was to run-jog-shuffle (the order is important there) up Adirondack high peaks as fast as possible. Because: mountainous nature + endorphins + no grizzly bears on the east coast = best time ever!

Two of my other favorite activities are reading and writing. Sometimes I write about hiking, sometimes exercise science, sometimes topics unrelated to training. If you’re interested, there’s a button towards the south + left side of your peripheral vision with the word “BLOG” on it. I promise it’s funny, or at least worth your time in fun fitness-y nuggets of wisdom.
